Everything You Need to Live the #SoupTok Lifestyle

Sometimes I feel like my algorithm is algo-ing a bit too hard. Exhibit A: My social feeds are filled to the brim with soup content the moment the weather turns cold and blustery. After a year of food-based microtrends hyperfixated on tomatoes, tinned fish, and pasta, soup season (and with it, SoupTok) is the next logical step. Whether you’re hankering for a simple bowl of comforting avgolemono or want to spend all winter making variations of tortellini soup, you can find it all on TikTok. The #SoupTok hashtag has more than 760 million views on the app, with many of the same videos being recirculated on other platforms like Reels and Pinterest. You’ll find enough videos of beautifully shot, whimsically named dishes like “Marry Me Soup” and “Swamp Soup” that you just might find yourself inspired enough to eat mostly liquid dishes for 10 days straight (speaking from experience). In that very likely scenario, here’s everything you’ll need to settle in for a cozy night of soup slurpin’.

A Do-It-All Soup Pot

This is the pot I always reach for when making soups, because the aluminum construction offers a lot of the benefits of an enameled Dutch oven at a fraction of the weight. The 5.5-quart capacity is deep enough to hold lots of liquid, but not so deep that I need a stool to see ingredients browning at the bottom. The included beechwood spoon is also notched to rest on the side handles, so it’s super easy to occasionally stir a soup without scrambling to find a spoon rest afterward.

If you need a smaller pot for single-serve soup nights, Our Place also makes a 2.5-quart perfect pot with a convenient saucepan handle.

A Coquette Cocotte

My feed has been overrun lately with both videos of soup and things with bows on them, and the perfect intersection of these two interests is this heart-shaped cocotte. The enameled cast-iron pot holds 2 quarts and is great for weeknight meals or an at-home date night.

A Great Way to Store Leftovers

I love making large-format soups, but unless I’m in the mood to have the same meal six times in a row, it’s difficult to store and get to my leftovers. This extra-large freezer tray is a huge game changer since you can perfectly measure out 1-cup portions and then save them for a day when future you is too lazy to cook. It’s also great for saving homemade stock—an easy (and sustainable) way to elevate the flavor profile of your soups.

Some Adorable Soup Cozies

Speaking of leftovers, you probably don’t want to burn your hands on a blazing hot bowl when heating up your soup leftovers. My friend introduced me to these quilted cozies that’ll help you avoid a Kevin Malone chili disaster while transporting a hot bowl from the microwave to your dining table.

A Fine Art Print of the Perfect Comfort Food Combo

Name a more iconic duo than grilled cheese and tomato soup. I’ll wait. Display your love for this classic comfort meal with a signed print by artist Noah Verrier—best known for his stills of classic comfort meals like PB&Js and Taco Bell spreads.

An Immersion Blender for One-Pot Soups

Almost nothing beats the texture of a silky blended soup, but transferring all of your ingredients into a blender is annoying enough to dissuade me from making them altogether. Thankfully, an immersion blender makes this whole process much easier.

A Cute Apron for Soup-Involved Messes

By my not-very-scientific estimation, making soup seems to be two hundred percent messier than any other dish I cook at home, so you should protect your dinner party best (or just your favorite sweater) with an apron. I love the ease of this cross-back design, and I typically find myself throwing things like a spare thermometer or tasting spoon in the pockets.

A Leakproof Container for Office Lunches

I’ve been trying to save money by bringing lunches from home, but I’m always worried about spills ruining my laptop or staining the inside of my favorite bags. These are the only containers that I truly trust to be airtight and leak-free, and I love that the glass-and-silicone design are both microwave- and dishwasher-safe.

The Perfect Pick-Two Set

Whoever thought of Panera’s Pick Two soup and sandwich combo should really have a Nobel Prize. If you want to make your own set at home (and you certainly should), this matching soup bowl and sandwich plate will really elevate the whole experience.

A Grown-Up Soup Bowl Set

While I normally grab a low-profile pasta bowl (or as I like to call them, blates) for every meal, soups require their own vessel. This ceramic bowl set from Casafina comes in gorgeous satin matte finish in colors like rich navy blue and an understated artichoke. Plus, they’re microwave-, oven-, freezer-, and dishwasher-safe, so they’re easy to use for just about every soup situation.

An Excellent Finishing Oil for Drizzling

An easy way to upgrade any soup moment is to add some complexity with a garnish. For creamier soups, a swirl of bright peppery finishing oil helps cut the richness. Graza’s Drizzle oil is made from Picual olives from Spain and has an easy-to-use squeeze bottle. And when you’re not making soup, it’s a great oil for making salad dressings or pesto.

Show Off Your Soup Love With Some Accessories

I’m a huge proponent of always wearing your favorite food on your person. Or in this case, on your earlobes. The components of these chicken noodle soup earrings are handmade with clay, resin, and tiny ceramic bowls. If you’re more of a tomato soup stan, these earrings with tiny floating goldfish crackers are also adorable.

A Straightforward Sweatshirt

If Adam Driver’s delivery of “good soup” has lived rent free in your mind since it went viral in 2021, commemorate it with a custom embroidered sweatshirt. Consider it your cozy uniform for enjoying a comforting bowl of soup at home.
