The Best Floral Bedroom Essentials for Real-Life Sleeping Beauties, Ahead of the 2024 Met Gala

Few red carpets are as hotly anticipated as the Met Gala. Billed as “fashion’s biggest night,” it brings together some of the most notable names across several industries, from musicians and models to actors and artists. When else would you spot, say, Rihanna, Pedro Pascal, and Marc Jacobs all strolling the same staircase?

This year, the Costume Institute exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art is titled “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” and will feature approximately 250 items drawn from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection, many of which have rarely been seen by the public before.

The items in question will span over 400 years of fashion history, with designs from legends such as Schiaparelli, Dior, Givenchy, and many others. In fact, there will even be garments too fragile to be worn again, including a Charles Frederick Worth ball gown that dates back to 1877. (It will also be displayed through a video animation, light projection, AI, CGI, as well as other mediums of sensory stimulation.)

Once guests complete the red carpet, they’ll have the opportunity to visit the exhibition. It will be curated around three zones—Land, Sea, and Sky—all of which are intended as an homage to the natural world.

And as everyone knows, the unveiling of the official dress code is nearly as exciting as the theme of the exhibition itself. This year’s? “The Garden of Time,” inspired by J.G. Ballard’s 1962 short story of the same title. And while interpretations are sure to run the gamut, there will no doubt be a slew of floral looks to bookmark and savor for the summer months ahead.
