This $13 Grilling Tool Has More Uses Than I Can Even Count

Grilling is an art that I have grown to know and love. And when it comes to what I am cooking, it’s usually a kabob. I love that I can stack and mix vegetables and proteins together, making light work of weeknight and weekend meals. To make it easier to make them, I bought these reusable skewers, which over the past four years have become a game-changer for me, though, not necessarily in the way you’d think.

While I use them for making kabobs whenever I can, I have discovered these skewers can be used in more ways than I can even count, from toasting marshmallows to mixing my favorite drinks. It never ceases to amaze me how this simple $13 tool has made such a huge impact in my kitchen, and it is sure to do the same in yours, too. Shop it now and up your grilling game while exploring other countless ways you can use it.

Lanney 12-Piece Kabob Skewer Set

The Lanney Kabob set has 12 stainless steel metal skewers. They’re split into two sizes, which I love, since it adds some versatility to the set. I have 10 of the 17-inch long skewers and two of the 14-inch long skewers. Each skewer has an angled point on the end that lets me easily slide the ingredients on, and the other end is a handle that is ergonomically shaped to make it easy for me to hold and turn them. These skewers have a 0.28-inch wide flat blade, which I found extremely helpful, as it keeps the food in place instead of spinning around when you flip the skewer, also ensuring that it cooks evenly.

I use the 17-inch skewers most on my outdoor grill, since they’re the perfect length to lay over the grates. They hold the perfect single-serving assortment of meat and vegetables. The 14-inch skewers are ideal for cooking up any extra ingredients, or if I am just cooking up some sides, since they hold a little less.

Though I love them for the grill, these skewers have quickly become a go-to tool for so many other surprising things. They are ideal for toasting marshmallows for s’mores, since they’re safe for the fire, and I have enough on hand for guests. I’ve used them to make a salad on a stick for appetizers. They work great for baking potatoes on the grill, as the potatoes flip over easily without spinning around and cook evenly, with crispy outside skins, just the way I like them. And when it comes to stirring that pitcher of margaritas in my house? One of these skewers is the first thing I grab, since they are long and flat-shaped. I have found so many other uses for them, and I am sure I’ll continue to find even more as the years go on.

Unlike the wooden skewers I used in a previous (and quite unpleasant) experience, these metal skewers are heat resistant. And, they are also rust-resistant, and show no signs of wear and tear since I’ve started using them, so I know I’ll have them for years to come. Cleaning them is a snap as they’re dishwasher safe, plus the smooth surface makes them easy to wipe. When they’ve dried, I always put the included silicone tips on them to ensure the sharper top is covered. They come with a storage pouch to keep them all in one place when not in use, which will ensure I never lose one.

These metal skewers have become an unexpected essential in my kitchen, and I’m happy to have them on hand this spring and summer. Grab a set of these metal skewers of your own for just $13 on Amazon, and thank me later.
