With more than 225,000 customers, including major corporations Coca-Cola, Universal, and Canva, Tel-Aviv-based monday.com (NASDAQ: MNDY) helps companies big and small manage projects, tasks, customer relationships, and more. While best known for its project management capabilities, monday.com also has powerful customer relationship management (CRM) capabilities, with features, such as quotes, invoices, sales forecasting, pipeline management, integrations, sales analytics, customizable pipelines, and even Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance with its Enterprise plan.

It has one of the highest G2 and Capterra ratings we’ve seen at 4.7 and 4.6 stars with thousands of reviews, although its CRM-specific rating only has a few hundred reviews. All rates and fees are current as of May 30, 2024, and are subject to change.

It has a large variety of tools in its arsenal to automate routine tasks, track real-time performance, and forecast future sales. For this reason, it’s especially helpful for sales-driven organizations.





monday.com’s biggest hindrance is its per-seat pricing. If you’re a cash-strapped startup, paying per seat, rather than a set amount for the entire organization, can put a strain on finances as those costs add up. Similarly, if you’re a solopreneur or have a two-person team, its paid plans have a minimum seat spend of three users.

Best monday.com CRM plan for small businesses: Standard

The best option for a small business is also its most popular option: the Standard plan, which costs $20 per seat, per month. Because you must buy at least three seats, that’s a minimum of $60 per month. If you choose annual billing, you’ll save 18% but face a larger upfront cost. 

It balances both functionality and cost, offering features such as 250 custom CRM actions and integrations per month, quotes and invoices, activity management, an AI email generator, Gmail and Outlook integration, and account, contact, and deal management. 

One of its biggest drawbacks is that you aren’t getting sales forecasting or lead scoring unless you upgrade to a higher-tiered plan. For a plan that is called Standard, this standard CRM feature doesn’t come as such unless you’re willing to pay for it.

Is monday.com secure?

In 2021, monday.com’s source code was accessed by cybercriminals using a modified version of Codecov’s bash uploader script. For months, this scraped customer credentials. monday.com wasn’t the only company hit but, considering it’s used by giants like Unilever, Adobe, and BBC Studios, this was reported by many news agencies. 

Just days before this article was written, monday.com also had to remove its “Share Update” feature because it was being used for phishing attacks. These phishing attacks came from notifications@monday.com, posing as legitimate emails and, therefore, passed all checks of authentication. 

Like most software-as-a-service (SaaS) companies, it encrypts your data, and servers are hosted at Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United States. Your critical data gets backed up every five minutes, and noncritical data gets daily backups.

On Capterra, its sales CRM has nearly 400 reviews with 4.7 out of 5 stars, and more than 4,700 reviews of its main monday.com platform with 4.6 out of 5 stars. It’s arguably one of the best-rated CRMs we’ve seen, although as it grows in popularity and features are added or removed, this could always change.

Its neutral reviews complain about “endless scrolling” with its interface, how automations are usually slow, there isn’t a way to manipulate data, its application programming interface (API) is tedious, and it can be buggy. Its positive reviews appreciate one-click integrations, update logs, and its easy collaboration outside of teams.

Is monday.com right for you?

Monday.com has a lot of bells and whistles to it, and for some smaller teams, it might be too much and there are alternative options if you only need a simple CRM. However, its tiered pricing structure can grow with a team, and as the demand for more features increases so, too, can the plan they’re on. Its Enterprise plan is great for healthcare agencies that need HIPAA certification, although specialized, niche industries may find better options tailored specifically for their industry elsewhere.
