Trump wins Iowa caucuses; Haley and DeSantis neck-and-neck: Live updates

Former President Trump is projected to win the Iowa caucuses Monday, according to Decision Desk HQ.

The expected victory leaves his rivals Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley to duke it out for second place.

DeSantis’s performance in Iowa has been seen as a make-or-break moment for the Florida governor, who has made the Hawkeye State a centerpiece of his campaign. Meanwhile, a caucus win for Haley would offer a major boost ahead of next week’s primary in New Hampshire.

Iowa Republicans braved the coldest caucus day in history to cast their ballots in the night’s nominating contest, which began at 7 p.m. C.S.T.

The weather has emerged as a late issue, with low temperatures raising questions about whether the candidates will be able to rely on their supporters getting to the polls. Trump’s status as a heavy favorite also raises concerns for his rivals about getting the vote out.

Here is where each candidate stands in Iowa polls, according to the latest from Decision Desk HQ/The Hill. You can follow the live results from the caucuses courtesy of DDHQ and The Hill here.
