Welch’s Is Releasing a Canned Cocktail Line

Welch’s wants you to be ready for summer with an adult bevy in hand.

The company shared with Food & Wine that it’s dropping a brand-new craft cocktail line of fruit-based beverages. The cocktails, Welch’s explained, are produced by Coop Beverage Works, a subsidiary of Oklahoma City‐based craft brewery Coop Ale Works, which also makes the Sonic Hard Beverages and Tampico Hard Punch.

“We are extremely excited to partner with Welch’s to create this lineup of Craft Cocktails that will bring classic cocktail recipes to the market with the fruit juice flavors that Welch’s is known for,” Ryan Stump, Coop Beverage Works’ vice president of business operations, shared. “These products were developed to elevate the experience of ready-to-drink cocktails by using real fruit juices and ingredients that today’s consumers are looking for. Whether these drinks are being enjoyed at dinner parties, out on the golf course, or after a long day at work, Welch’s Craft Cocktails deliver a refreshing experience with quality ingredients.”

The new ready-to-drink cocktail line includes four flavors — Vodka Transfusion, Vodka Cranberry, Watermelon Mule, and Passion Fruit Mojito.

The Vodka Transfusion, the company shared, comes with Welch’s Concord Grape juice and ginger and citrus notes, while its Vodka Cranberry comes with the “tangy sweetness” of cranberry juice. Its Watermelon Mule includes a “burst of real watermelon juice and the kick of ginger,” and lastly, it shared that its Passion Fruit Mojito includes “passion fruit juice with hints of mint and lime.” Each comes with an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 5.9% and will be available in single-flavor, 4-pack 12oz. cans.

“Welch’s longstanding reputation for quality in fruit-based food and beverages, spanning over 150 years, speaks volumes about our dedication to consumer satisfaction. Teaming up with COOP Beverage Works marks an exciting endeavor as we expand into a new market segment,” Chris Kwiat, vice president of corporate communications, partnerships, and transformational innovation at Welch’s, shared. “We are extremely excited to enter this growing category and provide adult consumers with a flavor-forward cocktail with real fruit juices and quality ingredients.”

The cocktails will soon be shipping to select retailers in several states, including Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
