Nvidia sees no disruptions to chip supply from Taiwan earthquake (NASDAQ:NVDA)
- Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) on Wednesday said it does not expect any impact to chip supply following the biggest earthquake to hit Taiwan in over two decades.
- Nvidia (NVDA) is the world’s leading producer and supplier of chips used in artificial intelligence processes. One of its biggest suppliers and contract chipmakers is Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSM).
- “After consulting with our manufacturing partners, we don’t expect any impact on our supply from the Taiwan earthquake,” an Nvidia (NVDA) spokesperson told Seeking Alpha in an emailed statement.
- Earlier, Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM) said it had paused some chip manufacturing and evacuated facilities after the earthquake hit on Wednesday morning.
- The quake, which occurred near Hualien City at 0758 local time, was the most powerful tremor Taiwan had seen in 25 years. It prompted initial tsunami warnings in Taiwan, southern Japan and the Philippines which were later lifted.
