Jennifer Lopez Turned Couture Week Into Her Own Show

Couture week is underway in Paris, and for celebrities in the front row, that means one thing: It’s high time for peacocking. Compared to Fashion Month, the style stakes are much higher during couture. The runways are filled with innovative, otherworldly craftsmanship, thus inspiring—and pressuring—guests to deliver bold, avant-garde looks. Someone who’s certainly been nailing statement dressing this week? None other than Jennifer Lopez, who’s turned the week into her own personal runway show (naturally.)

Of course, for a star like Lopez, this is par for the course; it’s not surprising that she dialed up the drama for couture, alongside her stylists Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn. The J.Lo.-does-couture show began earlier this week at Schiaparelli, when the star arrived in a custom white flower jacket made with 7,000 real petals. Complete with surreal gold glasses and pointy heels, she turned heads—in the best way.

Then, earlier today at Elie Saab, Lopez emerged wearing a plunging sea foam green gown by the label, paired with a cascading flower-covered cape. Over-the-top? Yes. Perfect for couture? Also yes. The star continued to shine at Valentino, albeit in something a bit more demure: a black column dress with cutout chain sleeves.

Only at couture are such outré fashions expected. Though, in the world of J.Lo, we wouldn’t be surprised to see her wearing them on a regular Tuesday, too.
