There’s nothing quite like Grammys weekend: It’s the one time of year that gathers all of music’s top talents in a singular place. While tonight’s official ceremony is bound to deliver memorable fashions and performances, last night’s Clive Davis pre-party honoring Jon Platt—held at the Beverly Hilton in L.A.—already kicked things off with a starry crowd. The celeb-studded event produced some deliciously random meet-ups, and I’m obsessed with them all. I mean, when else would we see Tyla and Nancy Pelosi strike a cheeky pose together?
Whoever made the guest list knew exactly what they were doing. An eclectic crowd of singers, rappers, actors, and more all gathered, prompting a slew of meet-cutes between A-listers who ordinarily wouldn’t cross paths. My personal favorite was when Lana Del Rey, who’s up for Album of the Year, met Ice Spice, who’s up for Best New Artist. On paper, the two performers couldn’t be more different; Lana croons about love and family and death, while Ice raps about you thinking you’re the shit, but you’re not even the fart. And yet, after seeing them together, we’re instantly wishing for a new collaboration. (Imagine if Ice Spice hopped on “Peppers”? Instant classic!)
