Frost criticizes Greene after she disavows white supremacists: ‘damn hypocrisy’

Rep. Maxwell Alejandro Frost (D-Fla.) went after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) on Wednesday after she disavowed white supremacy in a House Oversight Committee hearing, calling back to her previous interactions with Nick Fuentes.

“It’s interesting to hear my colleague just now talk about disavowing white supremacists, when in 2022 she spoke at an event led by white supremacists and white nationalist Nick Fuentes,” Frost said in the hearing. “And when asked about it, doubled down on it and said, ‘We’re going to focus on people, not labels.’ So get out of here with that damn hypocrisy.”

Fuentes, a white nationalist and Holocaust denier who once called for the killing of Jews, hosted Greene at his America First Political Action Conference in February 2022. The pair briefly shared a stage.

Greene initially declined to condemn Fuentes after the meeting, which brought criticism at the time from Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) and then-Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo). She did condemn Fuentes months later, however, after he met with former President Trump for a Mar-a-Lago dinner that November, saying she was not aware of his hateful views.

She said his views had “no place in the Republican Party,” adding that she regretted attending his event.

“I don’t regret talking to the kids that were there because I don’t understand why they follow him. But would I have gone to his event? No,” Greene said. “I’m worried about kids that would follow him. And that’s a shame. … But no, I don’t want to have anything to do with him.”
