Ford halts shipments of electric F-150 truck due to quality issue

Oh ok. Old news from February 9th. Production of the upgraded ’24 Lightning started several weeks ago, they typically hold back all new models for final inspections lasting a few to several weeks, including late software updates, and they finally ship them out to dealerships in bulk once they clear inspections and complete all the updates. It is apparently a relatively new policy at Ford’s not to ship vehicles to dealerships any more until they all pass inspections and get all the updates. This is in contrast to the emergency process during COVID and the chip shortages, where they would ship incomplete vehicles that were awaiting minor parts or software updates, then shipping the missing parts and fresh software separately to dealerships when available, and it was up to the dealerships to make repairs.Ford started shipping the ’24 F150 a couple of weeks ago, but the Lightning remains on hold.
