Boeing is said to win contract for maritime patrol aircraft in Canada (NYSE:BA)

Canada on Thursday will announce a multibillion-dollar contract for Boeing’s (NYSE:BA) P-8 Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft, Reuters reported, citing a senior official familiar with the matter.

The P-8, which is derived from the civilian Boeing (BA) 737-800, will replace the country’s surveillance planes.

Canadian plane maker Bombardier (OTCQX:BDRBF) (OTCQX:BDRAF) was said to challenge Boeing’s (BA) bid in requesting an open competition with its global business jets.

A P-8A Poseidon operated by the U.S. Navy this month overshot a runway in Hawaii and landed near Marine Corps Base Hawaii at Kaneohe Bay.
