This evening, George Clooney took to the red carpet in London for his new film, The Boys in the Boat, which he directed. He was joined by wife Amal, and as is often the case, the couple struck a stylish note together, both opting for timeless black looks. The human rights lawyer, in particular, looked elegant in her tailored ensemble, which riffed off holiday style signatures—Velvet! Tailoring!—in a subtle, modern way.
Instead of a classic LBD, Amal’s corseted top and trousers had velvet touches that are perfect for any holiday party. The fitted corset top came complete with a dramatic scooped neckline, and she paired it with velvety trousers with grosgrain trim for a monochromatic feel. Of course, no Amal look would be complete without a few of her signature accessories, too: Clooney carried a sleek box clutch, as well as her go-to footwear—a pair of sky-high pumps.Â
