GOP Rep. Devin Nunes resigns from Congress to become CEO of Trump’s media company

Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., will resign from Congress to turn out to be chief govt officer of former President Donald Trump’s fledgling social media firm subsequent month, the group stated Monday.

Nunes, the highest Republican on the Home Intelligence Committee, will begin as CEO of Trump Media & Know-how Group, or TMTG, in January.

The press launch from TMTG got here hours after paperwork revealed that the SPAC that plans to merge with Trump’s firm had been contacted weeks earlier by the Securities and Change Fee. The SEC and one other regulator had requested the SPAC, Digital World Acquisition Corp. or DWAC, for details about the lead-up to the cope with TMTG being introduced.

Shares of DWAC have been up greater than 7% in after-hours buying and selling following the announcement that Nunes would be a part of TMTG as CEO.

A spokesman for the congressman didn’t instantly reply to CNBC’s request for remark.
